Good enemies ramp up the game’s difficulty. All enemies are easy targets as of now, I hope they rework the AI. They literally walk into your line of fire as if they intentionally choose death while there are some that just camp behind covers. Although they shoot at you, they’re not very clever themselves. It’s pretty easy to kill them with just headshots right now. The enemies legit come at you in hordes and in a single line. As of now, it’s mostly just zombie-like enemies that chase you senselessly. If one or more of the teammates die, they will respawn with only a pistol as long as there’s at least one person in the fire team left alive. Everyone has to work together in order to survive. This may sound a bit over the top but trust me when you actually play the game, you will realize that the more people you have, the better. It doesn’t alert hordes and allows you to take on a few enemies at once.
The most important attachment according to me is the suppressor. You can basically mod them by adding attachments that give you an upper hand during the missions. This game allows you to modify your weapon as per your liking. Trust me when I say this, you will eventually make use of every piece of equipment you have.įinally, weapon modification. You can also equip two utilities Grenades and Glow Sticks. Then, you can choose a sidearm which is usually a pistol. You can equip a primary weapon which can be a Rifle of any sort, Sniper, Shotgun, SMG, or LMG. Now, moving on to the variety of weapons. They literally refuse to spoil you, they just want to up the game’s difficulty. Reloading is manual too, you have to hit the reload keybind to reload your weapon, it doesn’t do it automatically. You can feel the impact of each shot you fire. The absence of a crosshair makes it even more realistic. The guns are extremely satisfying to use, for me at least. Let me start off by saying that I am literally in love with the gunplay of this game. Not many SCP fans liked the introduction of the power switches). But your main goal is to reach your destination while clearing your path and flicking power switches to unlock locked doors (The previous games involved you searching for Key Cards to unlock the doors. You can either take a stealth or a gun-blazing approach.
It’s a game that emphasizes teamwork a lot. The core gameplay is very similar to that of GTFO. This not only adds to the realism of the game but increases the difficulty by a notch. Unlike the older SCP games, SCP: Pandemic took inspiration from modern titles and introduced a few mechanics into the series like leaning, ammo conservation, friendly fire, etc. The main objective of the game is to clear areas and move forward. It would be helpful if you report any of the bugs and glitches you face to the devs so they can patch them in the upcoming updates! This basically means that the game is still under development so expect a lot of bugs, glitches, and placeholders. Gameplay Mechanics As I mentioned before, the game is still in its Alpha Stage/Early-access. It’s not very “Smooth” as it is and has a lot of placeholders but I am glad that the devs were transparent about it. So, before jumping into the review, just be wary that this game is still in Early Access (Alpha Stage). They actually focus a lot on the First Person Shooter aspect. This game was not what I expected it to be. They also contain almost the same enemies and some new ones.Īnyways, SCP: Pandemic feels like a huge jump from the other SCP games, graphically at least. After a bit of research, I found out that SCP is like a genre of games that use the same concept but in different labs or something. But there is one thing I never understood I’ve always thought the SCP games were part of a series, but when I check the Steam Store pages, they’re mostly developed and published by different companies. What makes it worse is that I have no excuse for this. Yeah yeah, I know that makes me an uncultured gamer. No…It’s not about the Rona…You see, I’ve never played any of the SCP games before.
